There’s a pandemic in the world! What is God Saying about Corona Virus? As Christians how do we react to this damaged world? How do we live in peace?
At this time, understanding the purpose of God is paramount. It’s crucial for Christians not to live in fear but in faith and most importantly in hope of a solution. If you remember nothing out in this article, remember this, ”God is never taken by surprise” and He is aware of what his children and indeed the earth are going through.
Did God cause the Corona Virus Pandemic?
The Bible says expressly in the book of James:
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (James 1:17).
We don’t need science to know that Corona Virus has caused death and pain and darkness in the world. It is not a good gift. This verse describes intrinsically the nature of God as being light wherein there is no form of darkness. As such, a God of light will send only good and perfect gifts.
To further strengthen our resolve that the corona-virus does not originate from the express actions and decision of God, Apostle John states in 1 John:
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
One more scripture to strengthen our resolve on this issue: 1John.4.8-9: –
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this, the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him.
God is Light! God is the giver of good and perfect gifts! He did not give us the Corona Virus. God is Love!
Having established that the Virus comes not from God, the next question that comes to mind is, ”where does the virus come?”
Scriptures say in the book of Acts:
Acts.10.38 – How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Note something very important in that scripture, sicknesses was was an oppression by the devil. Having shown this it becomes clear that a pestilence or pandemic or outbreak of sickness like we have with the virus called corona is an oppression of the devil.
To put this expressly: Corona Virus is caused by the devil and the forces of hell.
Assurances from God’s Word: What God is saying about Corona Virus
There are many scriptures that we can hold on to at this time. Scriptures that can counter, disarm and protect us. Scriptures says:
He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. (Col.2.15).
Furthermore, Ephesians 1 says:
that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. Scriptures also mention that Jesus has been given a name above all names, the mention of which leads to every other name bowing.
All these go show us that in Jesus we have the power to speak against the workings of the devil through the virus and we can be sure that such speaking is powerful to end the Virus. We can stand on this in praying for the nations of the world concerning the virus. After all, The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. ( James 5:16)
Another assurance that we have as individuals in the midst of this period can be found in the good old psalms of David. Psalm 91, in particular, makes such wonderful assurances such as
Ps.91.1 – He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Ps.91.3 – Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.Ps.91.10 – No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
God did not cause the virus. God can and will end it. As we move through this time, let’s be strong. Do not fear for the Lord is always with you and he has not given you the spirit of fear.
